Ring sheet: Weight = π × (Outer Radius² − Inner Radius²) × Thickness × Density
Perforated sheet: Adjusted Weight = Solid Weight × (1 − Open Area ÷ 100)
Multiple sheets: Total Weight = Weight per Sheet × Quantity
Weight equals volume multiplied by the selected material density. Volume equals surface area multiplied by the sheet thickness. Consistent units prevent large errors during every sheet calculation.

Frequently asked questions
How is sheet weight calculated?
The calculator first finds the sheet surface area. It multiplies area, thickness, and density to determine weight. Modifiers then adjust perforation, corrugation, moisture, coatings, and quantities.
Can I calculate perforated sheet weight?
Yes, enter the manufacturer’s stated open-area percentage. The calculator removes that percentage from the solid base weight. Real patterns may still require supplier-specific correction factors for accuracy.
Does metal gauge equal millimetres?
No, gauge is a reference system rather than distance. Different materials can use different thicknesses for identical gauge numbers. Always verify the applicable gauge standard before purchasing sheet material.
Can I enter a custom material density?
Yes, select Custom Material from the material list. Enter density using any supported density unit beside the field. Supplier test data usually gives the most dependable calculation basis.
How are coatings included?
Coating weight uses coated area, thickness, density, and faces. Edge coating is excluded because edge geometry is usually unavailable. Add manufacturer data when edge mass materially affects totals.
What does corrugation factor mean?
Corrugation increases developed material area beyond projected sheet area. A factor above one accounts for that additional formed length. Use profile documentation for the most reliable correction factor.
Why include a tolerance range?
Commercial sheets often vary slightly from nominal stated dimensions. Density and coating thickness can also vary between production batches. Tolerance displays a practical minimum and maximum planning range.
Can the calculator estimate costs?
Yes, pricing can use kilograms, pounds, or individual sheets. Coating, cutting, disposal, extras, and tax are also supported. Currency symbols label results but never perform currency conversion.
Can I calculate bundles or packs?
Enter loose sheets, bundle count, and sheets per bundle. The calculator combines these entries into one total sheet quantity. This supports purchasing, storage, transport, and lifting estimates efficiently.
Can it find thickness from target weight?
Yes, choose the thickness-solving calculation goal. Enter the target finished weight and the intended sheet quantity. The result accounts for selected modifiers and coating weight.
Are results suitable for structural certification?
No, results are planning estimates based on entered information. Structural work requires verified specifications and qualified professional review. Always follow applicable codes, drawings, and supplier certification documents.
