Why Density Is Required
A pound describes mass, while a gallon describes volume. Equal weights occupy different spaces when substances have different densities. Honey therefore uses fewer gallons than gasoline at equal weight.
Preset values remain estimates because products vary. Fuel grades, paint mixtures, and food recipes change density. Verified supplier data gives better commercial or safety-critical results.

Accuracy and Practical Notes
Density changes with temperature, composition, pressure, and manufacturing tolerances. The temperature model uses a simple expansion estimate. It does not replace certified product tables.
Propane requires special handling because pressure affects storage conditions. Never use a simple volume estimate for cylinder filling limits. Follow applicable codes and supplier instructions.
This tool treats pounds as pound-mass. It does not calculate pound-force or gravitational loading. Engineering force calculations need separate acceleration information.
