Understanding lakh and dollar conversions

A lakh represents one hundred thousand units in Indian numbering. Ten lakhs equal one million in international numbering. This calculator displays both formats for easier financial comparison.

Currency rates describe how many rupees purchase one dollar. A higher INR-per-USD rate produces fewer dollars from lakhs. A lower rate generally increases the resulting dollar amount.

Manual mode suits bank quotes and confirmed transfer offers. Preset mode provides simple values for learning and testing. Daily mode requests a recent institutional reference rate.

Reference rates may differ from customer rates offered publicly. Banks can add spreads, service fees, and transfer charges. Payment platforms can also apply separate conversion adjustments.

The markup field models a provider exchange-rate spread directly. It changes the effective rate before converting the source. This helps compare advertised rates with practical settlement values.

Percentage fees reduce the converted output after rate calculation. Tax or withholding uses the same output-based calculation method. Fixed fees convert into the selected output currency automatically.

Best-case and worst-case estimates use your variation percentage. They reveal sensitivity when exchange rates move before settlement. Larger transfers can show meaningful differences from small movements.

Minimum and maximum rates support specific quotation comparisons. Enter both values to inspect two distinct settlement outcomes. This feature helps evaluate limits and planned transfer timing.

Reverse conversion starts with dollars and returns rupees. The result also displays the rupee value in lakhs. Markup reduces the effective selling rate in this direction.

Indian formatting groups digits differently after the thousands place. International formatting groups every three digits from the right. Both formats describe exactly the same numerical amount.

CSV export stores the common-value conversion table locally. PDF export opens the browser print workflow immediately. Select Save as PDF inside your print dialog.

Exchange-rate calculations remain estimates until providers confirm settlement. Weekend and holiday reference rates may remain unchanged temporarily. Always confirm final rates before completing any currency transfer.
