Understanding water and electrolyte estimates
Total water includes beverages and moisture supplied by foods. The calculator separates those parts so the beverage result stays practical. Actual needs still vary with temperature, activity, diet, health, and pregnancy.
Exercise fluid needs are especially individual because sweat rates differ widely. Weighing before and after a representative session gives a more personal estimate. Similar clothing and a reliable scale improve the calculation.
Sodium lost in sweat is displayed separately from normal dietary intake. This prevents a sweat estimate from becoming an automatic supplement instruction. Balanced foods or drinks may be useful during prolonged sweating.
Potassium, magnesium, calcium, and chloride support normal body functions. Their reference values describe dietary planning for generally healthy people. Supplements require extra caution with kidney disease or interacting medicines.
