Frequently Asked Questions
What score do I need on my final?
Enter your current grade, target, and final weight. The calculator isolates the final exam score algebraically. It also warns when your selected target becomes impossible.
Can required scores exceed one hundred percent?
Yes, difficult targets may require scores above one hundred. Extra credit can sometimes make that requirement achievable. Always confirm available grading rules with your course instructor.
How are weighted categories calculated?
Each category grade multiplies by its percentage weight. Those weighted contributions are then added together. Accurate category weights should normally total exactly one hundred.
Can I use points instead of percentages?
Yes, enter earned points and total possible points. The tool converts those values into percentages automatically. It can also process imported assignment CSV files.
How does dropping the lowest score work?
The lowest completed assignment percentages are excluded first. You choose how many qualifying scores should disappear. Incomplete work can remain ignored using the selected option.
What does grade replacement do?
The tool finds the lowest remaining completed assignment. It replaces that percentage with your entered replacement. This option models retakes or instructor-approved score substitutions.
Can I calculate several final exams?
Yes, add each final with its separate weight. The calculator combines their expected weighted contributions. It checks whether all final weights remain mathematically valid.
How are letter grades assigned?
The editable scale compares percentages against minimum thresholds. You may change every boundary for your institution. Results then use your customized scale for labels.
Are saved calculations private?
Saved history stays inside your current browser storage. The calculator does not require any account login. Clearing browser data can remove those stored calculations permanently.
