Exact versus estimated area
Coordinate, diagonal, angle, and Bretschneider methods can give exact planar results. Their accuracy still depends on measured inputs. Curved, sloped, or uneven surfaces need specialized surveying.
Trapezoid mode is exact only when two sides are parallel. Average-dimension mode is always an estimate. Use coordinates for irregular land or room boundaries.

What is an uneven square?
It is usually an informal name for an irregular four-sided shape. A true square has equal sides and right angles.
Can four unequal sides determine one unique area?
No. Many quadrilaterals can share the same four side lengths. Another diagonal, angle, height, or coordinates are required.
Why are four side lengths not always enough?
The corner angles can change while side lengths remain fixed. Those changes alter the enclosed area.
Which method is most accurate?
