Does humidity appear in the official formula?
No, official wind chill uses temperature and wind. Humidity appears only in supporting comfort calculations. The primary result remains scientifically standard.
Why can damp cold feel uncomfortable?
Damp conditions can affect clothing and skin comfort. Wet insulation loses useful protective performance. The calculator labels this effect separately.
When is official wind chill valid?
Use it at temperatures through 10°C. Wind should reach 4.8 kilometers hourly. Outside that range, results become unsuitable.
Can wind chill freeze water?
Wind chill does not lower objects below air temperature. Wind can accelerate cooling toward that temperature. Water still follows the actual temperature.
What does dew point show?
Dew point indicates atmospheric moisture content. A smaller temperature spread suggests damper air. It also helps evaluate condensation risk.
Why include wind gusts?
Gusts create brief periods of stronger cooling. Comparing averages and gusts shows changing exposure. Plan for the more severe value.
Does altitude change wind chill?
Altitude is absent from the standard formula. It can affect pressure and weather exposure. This calculator reports pressure separately.
