Formula Used

Worked time equals end time minus start time. Unpaid breaks reduce the recorded gross duration. Overnight entries add one complete day before subtraction.

Net worked timeGross work time − unpaid breaks + grace minutes
Decimal hoursNet minutes ÷ 60
Estimated payRegular pay + overtime pay + double-time pay + allowance

How to Use

Choose payroll rules matching your workplace. Add dates, rates, work periods, and breaks. Then calculate, review warnings, and export your final records.

  1. Enter employee and payroll settings.
  2. Add one row for each working day.
  3. Use extra periods for split shifts.
  4. Mark holidays and enter hourly rates.
  5. Calculate and review each warning carefully.
  6. Copy, download, print, or save results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which time formats are accepted?

The calculator accepts colons, periods, and compact digits. It also accepts common AM and PM entries. Invalid values receive clear row-specific warnings before payroll review.

How are overnight shifts handled?

An earlier ending time indicates an overnight shift. The calculator adds twenty-four hours before finding duration. This keeps overnight totals accurate without extra date fields.

Are paid breaks deducted?

Paid break minutes remain inside payable work time. Unpaid break intervals reduce the calculated gross duration. Both totals appear separately for easier payroll checking later.

How does weekly overtime work?

Daily thresholds are applied before weekly thresholds. Remaining regular minutes count toward the weekly limit. Excess regular minutes then move into overtime automatically thereafter.

Can weekend rates differ?

Weekend and holiday multipliers are separately configurable. The highest applicable multiplier controls each pay category. This avoids stacking incompatible premiums on identical minutes twice.

Does currency selection convert money?

Currency selection changes labels and symbols only. It never converts entered rates or calculated amounts. Enter values already matching your selected payroll currency exactly.

Can I save unfinished entries?

The browser save button stores current form values. Restore reloads those values on the same device. Clear removes entries and deletes stored data completely afterwards.

Why do overlap warnings appear?

Overlapping work periods may count identical minutes twice. The calculator flags overlaps for manual correction. Review every flagged row before submitting payroll records officially.

Are calculations legally binding?

Results are estimates for planning and recordkeeping. Workplace rules and local laws may differ. Confirm final payroll figures with an authorised payroll professional.
