Formula used
The calculator multiplies the entered amount by the selected rate. It then applies markups, percentages, and fixed charges separately. This approach keeps reference values and transaction costs visible.
Converted Amount = Original Amount × Exchange Rate Adjusted Rate = Historical Rate × (1 − Markup ÷ 100) Percentage Fee = Original Amount × Fee Percentage ÷ 100 Cross Rate = Target Currency Rate ÷ Source Currency Rate Percentage Change = ((New Rate − Old Rate) ÷ Old Rate) × 100

Understanding historical rates
Historical exchange rates help compare money values across different dates. Reference rates may differ from prices offered by banks. Always confirm important transactions with your financial provider first.
Markets may not publish reference rates on weekends or holidays. The calculator searches backwards for the nearest available rate. Both requested and effective dates remain clearly displayed together.
Reference rates describe market data, not guaranteed customer pricing. Banks may add spreads, commissions, and transfer charges. Compare the final received amount before approving any payment.
Frequently asked questions
1. What is a historical exchange rate?
It is a reference rate published for an earlier date. It helps compare currency values across time.
2. Which exchange-rate date is used?
The selected date is requested first. The effective returned date is also displayed.
3. What happens when I select a weekend?
The service may return no weekend publication. This calculator searches back seven days for available data.
4. Why does my bank provide a different result?
Banks often include spreads and fees. Reference rates do not guarantee customer prices.
5. What is the mid-market exchange rate?
It is a reference value between market buying and selling prices. Retail providers can add their own margin.
6. Can future exchange rates be calculated?
No future reference rate is known. Future-date entry is therefore blocked.
7. How often are historical rates updated?
New reference data normally appears on working days. The displayed effective date confirms available data.
8. Why are some currencies unavailable?
Provider coverage varies by currency and date. Use a custom rate for unsupported codes.
9. How are cross-currency rates calculated?
A service can divide target and source reference values. This produces the required currency-pair rate.
10. Does the calculator include transaction fees?
Optional markup, percentage fees, fixed fees, and receiving fees are included. Each adjustment remains visible.
11. How accurate are the displayed results?
Mathematics uses full available precision. Actual transaction prices depend on your chosen provider.
