Weapon-group DPS
Formula used
Raw DPS uses damage, projectile count, fire rate, and quantity. Sustained DPS includes burst, ammunition, capacitor, and heat limits. Effective DPS applies accuracy, range, resistance, and armor modifiers.
Shots per Second = Rounds per Minute ÷ 60 Raw Weapon DPS = Damage × Projectiles × Shots per Second × Quantity Alpha Damage = Damage × Projectiles × Quantity Sustained DPS = Raw DPS × Limiting Duty Cycle Effective DPS = Sustained DPS × Hit Rate × Range Modifier × Defense Modifier Net Shield DPS = Effective DPS − Shield Regeneration Time to Shields = Shield Health ÷ Net Shield DPS Time to Hull = Hull Health ÷ Effective DPS Estimated Time to Kill = Time to Shields + Time to Hull
How to use this calculator
- Select a mode, patch label, and ship preset.
- Review every weapon value against your current game data.
- Set global accuracy, power, capacitor, and cooling assumptions.
- Enter target shields, hull, regeneration, armor, and resistances.
- Calculate and compare burst, sustained, and practical damage.
- Export results or save the loadout for later.
Example data table
These values demonstrate calculator inputs only. They are not official statistics. Verify every field after each patch.
| Example | Weapon type | Damage | RPM | Quantity | Target |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light fighter | Laser repeater | 78 | 480 | 2 | 10,000 shield |
| Mixed bounty | Laser and ballistic | 265 and 52 | 180 and 900 | 2 each | 20,000 hull |
| Distortion support | Distortion repeater | 38 | 620 | 4 | 5,000 component |
Frequently asked questions
What is burst DPS?
Burst DPS measures immediate output during active firing. It excludes longer recharge and reload periods. Use it for opening attack comparisons.
What is sustained DPS?
Sustained DPS includes firing interruptions and resource limits. It models longer combat windows more realistically. Heat, ammunition, and capacitor values matter greatly.
Why does accuracy change effective DPS?
Missed projectiles produce no practical target damage. Accuracy converts theoretical output into expected output. Movement and range can lower accuracy.
How are shields handled?
The calculator subtracts shield regeneration from effective DPS. Shield health then divides by remaining net DPS. Zero net damage prevents shield breaking.
How does armor affect results?
Armor reduction lowers damage after resistance calculations. Enter percentages matching your chosen target model. Unknown armor should remain zero.
Can I compare pilot and turret damage?
Each weapon includes a control position. Turret labels separate turret sustained DPS automatically. Other controls count toward pilot DPS.
Are the presets official?
No preset represents guaranteed current game statistics. They demonstrate supported fields and calculations. Replace them with verified patch values.
How does range affect DPS?
Entered distance compares against each effective range. Damage accuracy decreases beyond that distance. The model reaches zero at double range.
