Formula Used
Awardable monster XP = Σ(XP each × quantity × award percentage).
Final party XP = (monster XP + quest XP) × multiplier × (1 + bonus%) × (1 − penalty%).
2014 adjusted encounter XP = base monster XP × monster-count multiplier × party-size adjustment × environment modifier.
Adjusted XP estimates encounter difficulty only. Characters normally receive base awardable XP. The distribution method then assigns each character’s share.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does adjusted XP change the award?
No. Adjusted XP estimates 2014 encounter difficulty. Base awardable XP normally determines character rewards.
Can mixed-level parties be calculated?
Yes. Each active character contributes level-specific thresholds or budgets. Progression remains individual.
Can absent characters receive XP?
Yes. Select equal among all characters. Otherwise, active-only methods exclude absent members.
How do weighted shares work?
Each eligible character receives XP according to their weight. Equal weights create equal shares.
Can bypassed monsters award XP?
Yes. Keep their award percentage at one hundred. Change it for partial success.
Can I use milestone leveling?
The calculator compares an entered milestone level. XP calculations remain available for planning.
What happens beyond level twenty?
Enable epic tracking. It counts optional rewards for each additional thirty-thousand experience points.
Why can an encounter feel harder?
Action economy, terrain, monster abilities, and depleted resources affect danger beyond XP budgets.
Are custom monsters supported?
Yes. Enter any Challenge Rating, then override XP with the creature’s intended value.
