Estimated months remaining = line numbers beyond the loaded range ÷ estimated promotions per month.
Future estimates can use the recent three-month average, overall average, a blended pattern, or a user-entered monthly quota. All projected dates remain unofficial.

Understanding Air Force line numbers
What a line number represents
A line number is a promotion sequence reference assigned after selection. It helps organize monthly promotion increments. A lower number generally appears in an earlier increment, but official eligibility and effective dates can still be affected by personnel actions.
Selection is not the same as promotion
Selection identifies a member for promotion consideration. Pin-on occurs only after the applicable increment and all required conditions are satisfied. Holds, delays, retainability, education, supplemental processing, and other administrative requirements may change the outcome.
Why estimates can change
Monthly promotion increments can vary. Funding, authorized strength, vacancies, policy decisions, corrections, and administrative processing may affect the pace. The forecast controls on this page are designed for planning comparisons, not official predictions.
Supplemental line numbers
Decimal numbers require careful handling. This calculator preserves .5 and .9 suffixes and never rounds them away. Users should verify the applicable supplemental guidance and effective-date determination with their personnel office.
Privacy guidance
Names and Social Security numbers are unnecessary. Optional date fields should remain blank unless they are truly needed. Avoid placing personal dates inside shared links, screenshots, exports, or public support requests.
