Formula used

Usable length = (Total section length − end clearances − access gaps) × slope factor
Posts per section = ceil(usable section length ÷ post spacing) + 1
Wire length = usable length × wire count × allowances
Rail length = usable length × rail count × overlap allowance
Mesh area = usable length × effective height × layers × overlap × waste
Concrete = posts × (hole area − post area) × concrete depth × waste
Project total = materials + labour + equipment + delivery + contingency + tax

Frequently asked questions

How does the calculator count posts?

It divides each usable section by post spacing. It adds end, corner, and gate posts. Double end assemblies receive extra posts.

Can rows have different lengths?

Yes. Enter comma-separated section lengths. Those values replace the standard row length and count.

Does slope change material quantity?

Yes. The slope factor increases actual run length. Larger slopes require slightly more wire, rail, and mesh.

How is concrete volume estimated?

The calculator uses cylindrical post holes. It subtracts approximate post displacement. Gravel depth is excluded from concrete depth.

Can concrete be excluded?

Yes. Turn off the concrete switch. Concrete and gravel quantities then become zero.

Why are wire coils rounded upward?

Suppliers usually sell complete coils. Pack rounding prevents an impractical partial-coil purchase. Disable rounding for proportional costing.

What does the safety factor change?

It increases estimated wire quantity. This allowance supports wind and tension planning. It does not replace engineering analysis.

Are labour and tax optional?

Yes. Enter zero for excluded costs. The calculator then omits those amounts from the project total.

Can this estimate vineyard trellises?

Yes. Choose the vineyard style or grape preset. Adjust wire gauge, post spacing, bracing, and load factors.

Is the result a structural design?

No. It is a material planning estimate. Confirm foundations, loading, corrosion resistance, and local requirements before construction.
