Understanding Working and Calendar Days
Calendar days include every date on the calendar. Working days include only dates selected as active workdays. Holidays and closures can reduce working-day totals.
This calculator supports several regional workweek patterns. Select any weekdays instead of accepting a fixed weekend. This makes unusual shifts easier to model.
Half-days contribute one-half of a working day. They are useful for shortened office schedules. A half-day holiday remains classified as a holiday.
Manual holidays provide the most dependable local setup. National presets include only several common fixed dates. Movable and regional holidays should be added separately.
Inclusive counting evaluates the selected boundary date. Exclusive counting starts after that boundary. This choice can change results by one day.
Forward calculations are useful for deadlines and delivery estimates. Backward calculations help determine required starting dates. Both directions use identical schedule rules.
The detailed table explains every included date. Each row shows status and working credit. Monthly totals support audits and staffing reviews.
Business-day adjustment affects the final reported date. Modified following avoids crossing into another month. It then uses the preceding business day.
Fiscal settings label the resulting date for reporting. They do not change calendar mathematics. The selected timezone controls date interpretation consistently.
CSV export provides the visible date classification table. PDF export opens the browser print dialog. Choose Save as PDF from there.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between working and calendar days?
Calendar days include every date. Working days include only active scheduled days after exclusions.
Can I use a Monday-to-Saturday schedule?
Yes. Select Monday through Saturday and leave Sunday unselected.
Can Friday and Saturday be weekends?
Yes. Unselect Friday and Saturday, then select the remaining working weekdays.
Are public holidays added automatically?
Basic fixed-date presets are available. Add official movable and regional holidays manually.
How are holidays on weekends counted?
Each date receives one final classification. Therefore, overlapping exclusions are not double-counted.
Can the calculator handle half-days?
Yes. Enter half-day dates, and each contributes 0.5 working-day credit.
Can I calculate backward from a deadline?
Yes. Choose backward direction to find an earlier qualifying date.
What does modified following mean?
It moves forward unless that crosses months. Then it moves backward.
Does the fiscal year setting change the answer?
No. It adds a reporting label without changing counted dates.
Why can my result differ from another calculator?
Differences usually involve inclusivity, holiday lists, weekends, or half-day treatment.
How do I save the result as a PDF?
Use Download PDF, then choose Save as PDF in printing options.
