Formula Used
Horizontal coordinates use Minecraft’s eight-to-one dimension scale. The Y coordinate remains unchanged during the basic conversion. Rounding converts decimal positions into practical block locations.
Horizontal distance uses the Pythagorean formula. Three-dimensional distance also includes the Y difference. Manhattan distance totals absolute movement across every axis.

Why the Nether saves distance
The Nether compresses horizontal travel between distant Overworld locations. Eight Overworld blocks correspond to one Nether block. This makes long routes much shorter.
Choosing practical portal coordinates
Exact conversion often produces decimal coordinates. Players normally build portals on whole blocks. The rounding menu shows a repeatable placement method.
Handling negative coordinates
Negative values need careful rounding. Truncation moves values toward zero. Floor rounding moves negative values toward the next smaller integer.
Comparing nearby portals
The comparison tool measures horizontal and vertical separation. It also shows direction and bearing. Use the radius field as a planning threshold.
