Formula used
The calculator combines connection groups, then applies waste and package rounding.
Total base couplers
= standards-to-ledgers
+ standards-to-transoms
+ intermediate transom connections
+ façade, ledger, and plan brace connections
+ tie and anchor connections
+ guardrail and edge-protection connections
+ access, ladder, stair, and gate connections
+ loading-bay and cantilever connections
+ sleeve couplers or joint pins
+ user-entered special connections
Waste quantity = ceil(Base quantity × Waste percentage ÷ 100)
Subtotal = Base quantity + Waste quantity
Final order = ceil(Subtotal ÷ Package size) × Package size
Weight = Final order × Unit weight
Purchase cost = Final order × Purchase unit price
Rental cost = Final order × Weekly rental rate × Rental weeksHow to use this calculator
Follow these steps to build a transparent, reviewable scaffold coupler estimate.
1. Select the calculation mode
Quick mode uses area-based estimating rates for early budgeting. Detailed mode counts modeled scaffold connections, braces, ties, access components, joints, and special sections. Manual mode ignores geometric calculations and uses your direct quantity entries.
2. Create scaffold zones
Separate different scaffold arrangements into zones. A project may contain a main façade, rear elevation, stair tower, loading bay, birdcage, and cantilever section. Separate zones improve traceability and reduce accidental averaging.
3. Enter dimensions and spacing
Provide scaffold length, width, height, bay sizes, lift height, row arrangement, sides, returns, and corners. Override bays or lifts only when a drawing provides exact counts. Use the complexity factor for irregular geometry and congested connection areas.
4. Define bracing and ties
Set the bracing interval, number of braces, vertical brace span, and couplers per brace. Configure tie spacing, tie type, couplers per tie, extra end ties, and check couplers. These entries should match the scaffold design.
5. Add edge protection and access
Enable top rails, midrails, end rails, toe-board retainers, brickguards, and debris-net supports. Enter ladder bays, stair bays, and access gate rates. The calculator adds their associated right-angle, swivel, board-retaining, and ladder couplers.
6. Model special structures
Enter loading bays, reinforced lifts, cantilever sections, beam clamps, Gravlocks, and special-purpose couplers. Their connection rates can be adjusted globally. A qualified designer should verify every non-standard arrangement.
7. Configure tube lengths
List available tube sizes and choose sleeve couplers or joint pins. The longest available tube becomes the continuous-run basis. Add known tube joints when the model cannot represent a drawing detail.
8. Review commercial settings
Enable required coupler types and enter weight, purchase price, rental rate, and package size. Add transport, cleaning, inspection, collection, tax, deposits, and rental weeks. Results compare purchase and rental totals.
9. Check warnings and export
Review design warnings before ordering. Export the material schedule to CSV or print the report to PDF. Save project data in the browser for later revision.
